Summer Information, 2026
Good Morning, LMHS Band Families,
I hope that this email finds you well and maybe even a little rejuvenated from summer break. As summer winds down and the new school year approaches, the LMHS Band has some of its most important activities before the school year begins. If you are an incoming freshman, just be prepared for how fast things are about to go! The pace of high school is much faster than that of middle school, with many more activities, events, and performances. If you are an upperclassman new to LMHS, then you will want to pay attention to the details below, as they may be quite different from your previous experience.
Before I lay out all this info, just know that it will also be available on our NEW WEBSITE, lakemaryhsbands.org.
Here is a listing of all upcoming band activities that occur prior to the school year starting:
Band Car Wash: Saturday, July 11, 8:30AM-2PM, 7-11, 4000 W. Lake Mary BLVD
This is a fundraiser for the general band fund. We need volunteers to work a shift or two! Sign up at the following link:
Band Orientation: Tuesday, July 14, 6-8PM, LMHS Auditorium
This event is designed to introduce families to the logistical necessities of participation in the LMHS Band. It will be an opportunity to fill out or turn in the Band Orientation Paperwork, pay initial costs, order appropriately sized gear, and ask any questions. The completion of this paperwork determines the precise numbers for the marching show. Not turning in this paperwork may result in a student serving as an alternate in the halftime show. Stay tuned for info on how to fill out this paperwork digitally.
Leadership Camp: Monday-Wednesday, July 20-22, 9AM-4PM, LMHS Band Room
This event is only for those students who will be serving in band leadership positions. This event is crucial in preparing these students for the details of their positions for the upcoming year.
Rookie Camp: Wednesday-Friday, July 22-24, 5-8PM, LMHS Band Room
This event is for all students who are new to the LMHS Band, regardless of grade. It is an opportunity for student leadership to teach marching fundamentals to new students, preparing them for the subsequent band camp.
Band Game Night: Friday, July 24, 7-9PM, LMHS Band Room
This event is a way to end rookie camp with a bit of fun! All band students are invited to this event.
Band Camp: Monday-Friday, July 27-31, 9AM-9PM
This event is among the most important events of the year. This is where we establish marching and playing performance fundamentals, begin learning our halftime show, and generally have a great time playing music! Much happens during this week, but some key moments include learning the opening of the halftime show, uniform fittings, band and section pictures, and section skits. If you will be out of town for any part of this event, please let Mr. Langston know as soon as possible.
Family & Friends Premier Show: Friday, July 31, 6PM, LMHS Don T. Reynolds Stadium
This event will feature the band’s premier performance for the 2026-2027 school year! You won’t want to miss it!
Marching Band Music Links: If you are interested in downloading any of the music for our upcoming season, click the link below to access the Google Drive where music is posted. Music will be organized by title and then by instrument and part. If you are a freshman and unsure which part to play (1st, 2nd, or 3rd), default to the 2nd part if there are 2 parts and the 3rd part if there are 3 parts. Students will receive music at band camp, so this is for anyone who just wants a head start! (You will have to log into your SCPS account to access this folder.)

More details about these events will be shared as they approach, so stay on the lookout for more emails as those dates get closer!
I look forward to seeing you all next Tuesday!!!
Josh Langston,
Band Director
